An on page load popup opens by itself the moment a page finishes loading, before the visitor scrolls or clicks anything. It’s the most common way to show a welcome offer, an email signup, or an announcement. In the Master Addons Popup Builder, the On Page Load trigger is already selected by default, so a brand new popup behaves this way out of the box.
Changed the trigger earlier (to On Scroll, On Exit Intent, or something else) and now want the popup back on page load? This guide walks through setting it again, plus the optional Delay after Page Load timer. It’s the same Popup Builder that ships free with Master Addons for Elementor.
Before You Start #
- A popup already built in the Master Addons Popup Builder (see the popup settings guide to create one)
- Elementor installed and active
- Master Addons for Elementor installed and active (installation guide)
Step 1: Open Your Popup in Elementor #
Go to Master Addons → Popup Builder. Find the popup you want to show on page load, hover over its name, and click Edit with Elementor. The popup opens in the Elementor editor with the MA Popup Settings panel on the left.
Step 2: Set the Open Popup Trigger to On Page Load #
In the MA Popup Settings panel, open the Settings section and find the Open Popup dropdown. On a fresh popup it already reads On Page Load. If it shows a different trigger because you switched it before, click the dropdown and pick On Page Load from the top of the list.
The same dropdown holds the other triggers too: On Click, On Scroll, On Scroll to Element, On Exit Intent, After Inactivity, and Custom. On Page Load sits first, so it’s quick to switch back to.

Step 3: Set an Optional Delay After Page Load #
With On Page Load selected, you’ll see a Delay after Page Load (sec) field. This is how many seconds the popup waits after the page loads before it appears. Leave it at 0 and the popup shows instantly. Set it to 2 or 3 and the page gets a moment to settle first, which usually feels less abrupt to the visitor.

A few related options sit in the same panel:
- Show Again Delay controls how long before the popup can reappear after a visitor closes it, so it doesn’t open on every page view.
- Disable Page Scroll locks the background page while the popup is open.
- Disable popup automatically lets you set an end date so the popup stops showing on its own.
When you’re done, click Publish (or Update) to save the popup.
Step 4: Test It on the Front End #
Open any page covered by the popup’s display conditions and load it on the front end. As the page comes in, the popup is still on its way if you set a delay.

A second or two later (or right away, if the delay is 0), the popup opens over the page on its own. The same popup shows on every page included in its display conditions.

Troubleshooting #
- Popup doesn’t show on page load? Check the Open Popup dropdown first. If it got switched to another trigger, set it back to On Page Load.
- Takes too long to appear? Lower the Delay after Page Load value, or set it to 0 for an instant popup.
- Only shows once, never again? That’s the Show Again Delay at work. Drop it to No Delay while testing so it reopens on every load.
- Not showing on the page at all? Check that the popup’s Activation is on and its display conditions actually include the page you’re testing.
Frequently Asked Questions #
How do I show a popup on page load in Elementor?
Edit the popup in Elementor, open the MA Popup Settings panel, and set Open Popup to On Page Load. It’s selected by default, so a new popup already loads this way. Add a delay in seconds if you want, then publish.
What does Delay after Page Load (sec) do?
It sets how many seconds the popup waits after the page loads before opening. At 0 it shows instantly. At 2 or 3 it lets the page settle first, which feels less abrupt to the visitor.
Why doesn’t my popup show on page load anymore?
The Open Popup trigger was most likely changed to something else, like On Scroll or On Exit Intent. Open the popup in Elementor and set the Open Popup dropdown back to On Page Load.
Can I stop the popup from showing on every page view?
Yes. Use the Show Again Delay option to set how long before the popup can reappear after a visitor closes it, anywhere from one minute to a full month.
Do I need Elementor Pro for an on page load popup?
No. The Master Addons Popup Builder works with the free version of Elementor, so the On Page Load trigger and Delay after Page Load setting work without Elementor Pro.
