Do you need Elementor Pro?

The free tier has one hard limit, and it’s worth stating plainly because the settings screen doesn’t make it obvious. Three restaurant popups worth building
Most restaurant sites need three at most, and the free Popup Builder covers the first two.
- Today’s specials or welcome. Loads once per visit, highlights a dish or a seasonal menu change.

Step 1: Turn on the Popup Builder
Install and activate Master Addons, then open its settings and enable the Popup Builder module. That adds a Popup post type to your dashboard, separate from your pages.
Create a new popup, name it something you’ll recognise in three months (Specials Popup, Reserve Table Popup), and open it in the Elementor editor. From there it behaves like any Elementor page.

Step 2: Build a today’s specials popup
Keep it small and specific: a heading, two or three items with prices, and one button through to your menu or reservation page.

Step 3: Add a Reserve a Table popup on a button click
This is a different mechanism from Step 2, and it’s the one most restaurant sites should lead with. Instead of a scheduled trigger, you attach the free Popup Trigger widget to a button, and the popup opens only when someone clicks it.
Build a second popup holding your reservation form or a link to your booking system. Then drag the Popup Trigger widget onto your Reserve a Table or Book Now button and connect it to that popup in the widget settings.

Step 4: Add a countdown for limited offers
For a happy hour window or a one-night event, drop the free Countdown Timer widget inside the popup and set the end time to when the offer actually closes.
Pair it with one line of copy that names the deadline, like “Happy hour ends at 6pm”, and a button through to the reservation popup from Step 3. Don’t use a countdown that resets on refresh. Regulars notice, and the lost trust costs more than the urgency gained.
Step 5: Control when and where it appears
On free, this step has the hard limit from earlier: any popup relying on the Popup Builder’s automatic triggers fires on Page Load and targets the whole site, whatever the settings dropdown shows. The click route from Step 3 is unaffected, because it opens on click rather than on a timer.
To show a popup only on the menu page, only during service hours, or only after someone scrolls past the gallery, you need the Display Conditions extension, which is Pro. That’s the difference between a popup that shows everywhere and one that shows where it makes sense.
Until then, design free popups as general sitewide messages. A specials popup and a click-triggered reservation button both work inside that constraint, which is why they’re the two this guide builds.
Keeping popups from annoying your diners
A good host doesn’t meet someone at the door with a clipboard before they’ve looked at the room. A popup firing the instant someone lands does exactly that.
Give every popup a real reason to exist: an actual event, a genuine discount, or a menu change worth knowing about. One offer per popup, never two on the same page, and prefer a click trigger whenever the goal is a booking rather than an announcement.
